The Irish Cruiser Racing Association (ICRA) held its annual Conference at the Royal Irish Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire on 10th February.
The conference was well attended, with members and club representatives travelling from all cornenrs of the country.
The outgoing Commodore Dave Cullen opened proceedings by reminding ICRAs main goals. He then outlined the main results from the recent ICRA member survey, including the feedback on preferred time of season for the ICRA National Championships and its format. Dave then outlined the main actions undertaken by ICRA during 2023 and closed out with an outlook for 2024 and beyond.
Delegates from several clubs and associations outlined their plans for the main events that will occur during the upcoming season, as follows :
WAVE Regatta with occur at Howth YC from 24th to 26th May, see waveregatta.com
WIORA Championships will be hosted by Foynes YC from 12th to 15th June, see wiora.ie
Round Ireland Yacht Race, which starts from Wicklow on 22 nd June, see roundireland.ie
Volvo Cork Week will occur this year from 15th to 19th July, see corkweek.ie
Calves Week will be hosted by Schull Harbour SC from 6th to 9th August, see shsc.ie
ICRA National Championships will be part of a trilogy of great events hosted by the Royal Irish YC, along with the J-Boat Cup and the IRC European Championships, the ICRA Nationals will occur from 30th August to 1st September with the J-Boat Cup occurring the subsequent weekends and the IRC European Championships scheduled for 10th to 15th September, see cruiserracing.ie and riyc.ie
ISORA series of offshore races begins on 31st March continuing until 20th September, see isora.org
Most of these events will count towards ICRA’s Boat Of The Year award for the 2024 season, along with several other events. The NOR for this year’s ICRAs Boat Of The Year will be published shortly.
